The Kindred, genetically engineered human and animal hybrids, were originally created by Doctor Per Wolff to assist in the fight against terrorism which had spread across the world like a plague. But to Doctor Wolff, the Kindred were more than mere soldiers. They were the next logical step in human evolution and the future of the human race itself. Almost thirty years later, with the fight against the terrorists long over, the Kindred were finally recognized as persons under the law, allowing them to be full members of society. Lucas Wolff, Doctor Wolff's son and the first of the Kindred, was now twenty-nine-years-old, but still looked very much like a teenager, albeit a very furry one thanks to his Kindred genes which made him part red fox. While on one of his frequent walks one cool spring night, he unexpectedly came upon a despondent young man who, unbeknownst to him, would change the course of his life forever.
