When Mr. Gingerbread notices demand for gumdrops he starts a business to sell them. Join him on his fun and educational adventure as he deals with entrepreneurship, economics, supply and demand, taxes, unions, running his business.

Candynomics is a rhyming story that introduces young readers to the business world. They will begin to gain a basic understanding of how commerce works and will begin to recognize that everything they see, even the lowly gumdrop, is a result of entrepreneurial initiative, and "behind the scenes" hard work. Colorful illustrations guide readers through an engaging story with two alternate endings. One ending presents an economic environment tending toward a more socialistic and interventionist landscape which illustrates the real effect that government has on economic prosperity. Ending two presents the theory behind a pro-capitalist and individualistic landscape where the entrepreneur has more freedom to operate his business in the way that he chooses.

The book was written not only for the enjoyment of the story, but also to provide a scenario through which parents can further discuss and initiate educational discussion on economics and business, a topic that impacts everyone every day.

The subject matter and delivery is excellent. Candynomics could be considered required reading for all children (and some adults).
