Publisher Marketing: In 587 BC, Jerusalem's Temple, God's dwelling place on earth, was reduced to a smoldering ruin. Its faithful worshipers were in exile, stripped of homes, possessions, and places of worship. Where was God's promise amidst such destruction? From catastrophe, something utterly new emerged. Each verse of the Latin text is followed by its English translation. The Latin text of the Vulgate, used by permission from the German Bible Society, is drawn from Roger Gryson's masterful 1994 Edition of Biblia Sacra Iuxta Vulgatam Versionem. These works, translated afresh by John Cunyus, are the latest in Searchlight Press's Latin Old Testament Project.
