This is the biography of All-Star Negro League Baseball player, Byron "Mex" Johnson of the Kansas City Monarchs. He was the grandson of a slave growing up in Little Rock, Arkansas during Jim Crow. He was college educated and became a teacher at the very high school he graduated from in Little Rock. He was involved in the Little Rock Nine integration of Central High School in 1957, and served his country bravely in World War II. With a Foreword by President Bill Clinton and an Introduction by Don Baylor, it's a trip through American history, Black history and Negro League baseball history.
