Simple Treasures in Bulgaria was written to give a little taste of Bulgaria. An insight into how life is lived by Bulgarians is shown throughout this book. A great deal of pleasure was derived from looking at the fascinating ways things are thought through and done by Bulgarians. Bulgaria's unique way of life will now become somewhat diluted with the country s inclusion in the European Union. Conforming to rules and regulations, it will soon become uniform with the rest of Western Europe. Bulgaria will have to fall in line and give up much of its charm, character and individualism. Therefore the simple cultural treasures found and recorded in this book I hope will be a contribution to the archives of how Bulgaria was. I am extremely fortunate that Galia my Bulgarian partner is here by my side. Without her and her family alongside supporting and feeding me, the material might well have been very different looking in from the outside rather than from within. I therefore willingly dedicate this book to them.
