Caregiving is complex. Caregiving demands that we be patient, strong, persistent, fearless and gentle. We are called on to be advocates, listeners, errand-runners and negotiators while dealing with our own feelings of guilt, failure, disappointment and fear. At the same time we do our best to take care of ourselves so we can care for others. And yet in the midst of pain, fear and sorrow, the opportunity to be a caregiver is truly a gift. The time we spend with our loved ones is precious. There is an awareness of love that is amazingly profound. My intention is that this journal is a companion as you spend time waiting and worrying. I hope you will use it to record the fleeting joys and profound struggles of being a caregiver. I hope you will find a story that reminds you that you are not alone and that you gain some inspiration that gives you hope on the tough days. My prayer for you is that you are blessed beyond measure for your gracious giving.
