Wealth and Economic Status: A Perspective on Racial Inequity
William P. O'Hare
Black median family income has remained at about 60 percent of white median family income during the past two decades. Nevertheless, black wealth - that is, accumulated assets - was only about 36 percent that of whites in 1979. This monograph looks at the different patterns of holdings for blacks and whites between 1967 and 1979, the most recent year for which data were available.
