The Voyage of the "Frolic": New England Merchants and the Opium Trade
Thomas N. Layton
In 1984, the author excavated fragments of Chinese porcelain at the site of a Pomo Indian village. He discovered that the clipper "Frolic", a ship built specifically for the Asian opium trade, had wrecked a few miles from the village and uncovered a picture of the 19th-century opium trade.
