CHARLES HENRY WALKER enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1929, served through World War II and the Korean War, and rose to the rank of Commander. He was married to Helen (Jackie) Reynolds, a loving presence throughout his life. After his retirement he completed college on the G. I. Bill and taught history in the Denver Public Schools. ROOTS AND CONSEQUENCES includes, among other things, the absorbing story of his difficult childhood in rural North Carolina, as well as his many years of service in the Navy, rich with historical detail.
