Eight Days in October DM Schwartz

In a desperate effort to save his father from a grisly fate, Simon Cubbins unravels a hundred year old mystery in a haunted city cursed to die. Doing so pits Simon against his family, a vile assortment of villains who feed on the toxic energy seeping up from below the city (as they also feed on their neighbors). But a violent family feud isn't the only thing facing Simon. His progress is blocked by a stoic Federal agent specializing in the occult, a father daughter duo with a serious axe to grind (and bury in anyone who gets in their way, a pair of cops who break more laws than they preserve and, in a city where the dead on't often stay that way, a collection of morose ghouls, ravenous spooks and devious, fleshy specters. Only two people survive these last eight days in October, as the city dies in a truly (and literally) cataclysmic eruption of the stubbornly undead.
