Life is a gift, but the beauty of it diminishes when you always have to depend on the people mistreating you to survive and achieve your dreams. Being tormented by her mother and cousin with a dark past, Jezel struggles to keep her life intact. Her sanity is tested daily by her mother Scarlett who relives her abusive childhood memories by taking the pain out on her. Consistently looking unpleasant, having attitudes and being antisocial, people start to get concerned about Jezel's life. Having no stable place to live, she must depend on the help of her friends and extracurricular activities to keep her going as her graduation date nears. When Jezel gains a little hope, her family always finds a way to deplete it. They try to ruin the only chance she has at a bright future. With no funds or support, Jezel has to figure out how to attend college, pursue her degree, and escape her mother who was setting her up for failure. With Jezel constantly dealing with negative and abusive people, she starts to worry about her future and wonder if her life will ever be worth living.
