Quiet Gardens is a three character, one act play, set in Eugene, Oregon, in October 1985. It is a one night reunion of close friends named Thad, Neil and Ginny. After dinner, during a departure ritual, the two men eat magical mushrooms that they had harvested months before for this very occasion. When the shrooms begin to take effect, the men join Ginny in the front room, turn on a reel to reel tape recorder and proceed to document their evening's journey. "It's the the performance in the moment," Thad insists. "I mean we're performing the reality that we're feeling." And so, in the Quiet Gardens, they do just that.
