The Gold Coast faces economic ruin when a vicious serial killer, known as X, murders seven young women over a three-week period.




Detective Constable Scott Stephens is inexplicably plucked from obscurity, promoted to Detective Inspector, and placed in charge of the investigation.




Gold Coast Mayor, ex-AFL star, and billionaire property developer, Julian Monroe, has a lot to lose. Along with his involvement in various multi-million-dollar projects, his long-anticipated cruise ship terminal and casino resort is at a sensitive stage with potential investors.




Scott unearths withheld CCTV footage of the killer fleeing the scene of the last murder. The face of the offender is unmistakable - it's the mayor's son. The only problem is, he has an identical twin.




Scott not only needs to determine which twin is the killer - the brash, up-and-coming AFL star of the Gold Coast Suns, Dillon Monroe, or his autistic brother, Troy - but he also faces a backlash from his employees when he suspects there's been a cover-up.




An explosive climax ensues, around the vibrant streets of the Gold Coast, when the killer's attention shifts, catapulting Scott's plight in a new direction - a fight for his life.
