Spirit of the Mercury Dime Kathy Swoyer 1st edition

Eileen Hanley is tangled up in her world. Sunrise Hospital, where she works a job she loves, is rumored to be in serious trouble ever since it was taken over by big business and the suits that run it. Now the hospital, which has been around since before the Civil War and is also rumored to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad, is in danger of destruction. Her personal life is in trouble, too, when Eileen?s affair with a hospital board member, Virgil Ellingsworth, is deep-sixed. It?s Virgil?s company that sells faulty grommets to the hospital. Now Sunrise is on the wrong end of a long line of lawsuits. It?s going to take a miracle to save the place?and Eileen plans on finding one as she sets out to prove the Underground Railroad rumors true. But she doesn?t have much time. Will history be enough? As probing as it is witty, Swoyer delivers an imaginative tale with style and spirit, imbuing every character with a unique viewpoint and voice to create a fully envisioned world, exposing the foibles, failings, and grace of the human heart. Filled with passion, humor, and irreverence, Spirit of the Mercury Dime will leave you laughing and deeply affected by her characters? emotional journeys.
