A mysterious destructive force known only as the abyss is eating the world alive. Time dilation, a side-effect of its presence, has slowed the passage of time to a standstill. The final day of the end of the world will last thousands of years, driving people mad with despair and the fear of inevitability. Plagued by a sun that never sets and a world that can no longer age, the remaining population has made escapism the center of their lives. Society now revolves around the mass consumption of freely available antidepressants, and an addictive social video game known as Conundrum. A lone man, struggling with depression and haunted by loss, wanders the desolate remains of Middle America, navigating through strange time distortions that twist what little reality he has left, searching for meaning, yearning for happiness, and a point to his continued existence. Somewhere out there, in what remained of the world, was an answer, and he was determined to find it. In the Sanctum of Entropy is a sci-fi road trip filled with strange encounters, people of questionable sanity, and a conspiracy to hide how bad things really are.
