The Cantor Set is a poetry collection evocative of love and loss, a collection of lyrical intensity, a haunting enigma, the graph of a relationship's signature and its restrictions.
These are poems of longing, outrage and exclusion. They are poems of boundaries, choices and the limitations the bide them.
"It's not war, it's a grace called privacy, / you shoveling mulch, gravel, / me in the worn hock of tannin leaves / reading bones, the squall of radius and ulna / catching light on the ground like runes, / spelling-- but not spelling-- the heft / of that last thing they held.
Neither tuck of root nor stone / syndicate the telling. Far / from the scapulimancy of seers / the earth chelates the apatite of bone in the vertisol / until it is but a huck on the blanket of trail, / regolith of acorn and seedpod, usnea and snail shell / ground to the biomantle of everything / that shall go untold, the nestled branch, / the vine clad mountain laurel, / dried and hung with its handkerchiefs of lace, / the astragals of stardust too a shatter, / a slow grind of carbon to granite's armor."
The poems in The Cantor Set are meant to stay with you. They are driven by encounters with the natural world. The Cantor Set is a field study in a metaphysics of love, a lens to the backdrop of a relationship.
