Peach Pits, sequel to Applecores, continues the adventures of Meagan and Katherine. Leaving Nebraska at the start of the Civil War, the book follows as they, along with husband Sir, attempt to find a peaceful place to live. Or as peaceful as life with the two women can be. Meagan, always trying to live life in true Amish style, discovers being homeless doesn't rein in Katherine's emotional outbursts or enjoyment of a good fight. Katherine, forever trying to get rid of Meagan's self-appointed role as her conscience, always hopes to have fun. All while trying to survive floods, posses, bounty hunters, 'bugs big enough to carry off a body', and Sir's threats to simply leave them behind. Visiting a cattle ranch in Washington Territory, the three discover a lead to the mysterious person trying to kill them. Forging a trail to the budding town of San Francisco, they create havoc as usual along the way. Once there, the girls finally meet the man intent on killing them. They also gain a bit of history of their husband, which leaves them both stunned and wanting to know more.
