Samuel Lipa Tennenbaum, a lawyer and businessman living in Zloczow, Poland, managed to preserve notes, a diary, documents, and photographs throughout World War II. In 1975 at the prompting of his daughter Lynn, he began to assemble these into a chronicle, the Zloczów Memoir. The memoir relates the story of Mr. Tennenbaums family against the panorama of political events in Europe. The author has a strong sense of history, and the personal and anecdotal are presented with insight and with in the context of broader world events. His is a moving story of ordinary people trying to deal with extraordinary times.
