190 Proof is a non-fictional account of activities of the New Jersey State Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. The investigation tells of strange behavior by the deer inhabiting this wooded area of northwestern New Jersey, to a seemingly quiet residential neighborhood and discovery of a skillfully concealed still. The investigation continues along a route of bars and clubs, to organized crimes, and speakeasies hidden in back rooms of legal establishments offering gambling and prostitution, and finally to the downfall of a multi-state distributor of illegal alcohol.
