It's the beginning of summer break when the unthinkable happens, Deborah's father is in a car accident and falls into a coma. Will he ever wake up? The joys of summer vacation are stolen from her as she goes through the stages of grief, but she does not walk alone. A legend Deborah reads about in a library book comes to her while she sleeps. The Wolf Mother is an old woman who is the mother of all canines and always shows up when children go through hard times and gives them comfort and wisdom. But does she have the power to wake up Deborah's father? Does anyone?

The Huntress



It took everything Esther had to find the courage to go to this youth fall retreat and when she gets there she hides behind her hair and acts out her fool-proof plan of never being noticed. But she hears the story of the Huntress, a brave warrior who escaped slavery in the colonial days and now is said to live in the woods and protects all who come there. Esther believes she's the farthest thing from a brave warrior, but the Huntress visits her in her sleep and together they must protect the others from a rogue bear. Will Esther finally find her courage and fight alongside the Huntress and will she finally learn that she has always had the heart of a true warrior.



The Weaver



It's not that 12-year-old Ruth is lazy, she's just used to everyone else doing what needs to be done. Ruth's family has just moved to Newfoundland, Canada, and her mother tells her the story of the Viking people who settled there long ago. Ruth admires the strong Viking women and wonders what it would be like to be among them. But Ruth's carefree life is suddenly turned on its side when her mother breaks her arm, her sister gets the flu, and her father goes on an unavoidable business trip. Everything is now placed on Ruth's shoulders. While she sleeps the spirit of the Weaver speaks of honor and duty and the pride in carrying one's family. Ruth must find the strength to be there for her family, she's all they have.
