Prudence Malkin is a reclusive accountant who leads a somewhat normal life in Portland, Maine where she immerses herself in her work. However, behind her placid and put-together front, she hides a dark and agonizing past. In spite of her efforts to suppress the demons of years gone by, they manifest themselves in the form of an affliction that pushes her to commit a gruesome murder. The suffocating confines of prison life pushes Prudence to come face to face with the traumas of her past and the monster she has become.
