After scholarly debate over the historicity of King Arthur was seemingly put to rest, three medievalists working in three different disciplines make simultaneous discoveries that suggest the historical Arthur was not the noble and valiant king legend reports that he was. They are brought together at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo by a questing graduate student named Annie who decides to brave the intimidation of her first academic conference in order to present her own piece of the Arthurian puzzle. On her quest to find Arthur, Annie finds friendship, as she and five others learn their research is entangled in an ancient magical spell, one that they alone can undo. Part fantasy, part coming-of-age story, Quest for the Historical Arthur is a modern-day adventure that medievalists of all ages can enjoy as much as a trip to Kalamazoo.
