Purrdie Burrdie I Love Myself, Can You See poetically celebrates the importance of loving oneself for who you are as you are. Purrdie Burrdie is a self-loving, self-confident doodle from planet Doodletopia who confidently proclaims that self-love is the best love, written and Illustrated by artist Danitra Antrielle Hunter. Danitra has been creating Purrdie Burrdie for over a decade now. She began drawing Purrdie Burrdie as a black and white image for children to color and bedazzle while working at the West Seattle YMCA in her hometown. The little girls and their love of Hello Kitty inspired her to create a character that represented black culture and self-love. This book was inspired by little black and brown girls who were ashamed to be black and brown. That broke her heart and gave her passion a purpose, to teach children how to love themselves with Purrdie Burrdie's help.
