Have you ever pulled away from a drive up restaurant, opened up your order, and it was not what you had expected? Or have you been promised something and expecting it, and after waiting seemingly forever, have never seen that promise fulfilled? Silly question, we all have. What do you do? This was Gideon's issue. On a grander scale I grant you, but still, he took issue with a promise of God that God had appeared to renege on. As Gideon was hiding, threshing wheat, the angel of the Lord came to him with an astounding salutation. What is EVEN more shocking, is Gideon's response to this angel! "Why has God abandoned us! ! "And then He called that angel of God into accountability. Gideon seems to be a good kid, no record of him arguing with his father Joash, and as a good kid, we can hear his father's voice in what Gideon states. God is not doing for us; 'What he did for our forefathers, we are on our own in this dilemma'. Gideon is mad, he is angry at God from an honest obedient son's position from what he has been taught. Gideon had been taught the books of Moses replete with all the miracles God had done for them, and now; "WHAT was God's problem?!?"In this, the 'good hearted' believer who is honest with himself or herself can relate. Jesus healed the sick, Jesus caused the blind to see, yet, we go to church with the blind, those who are tormented, what IS the problem?!? What is He doing FOR US? What is God's problem? The young man sat by the cadaver of his young wife. For three days, he begged God to give her back. He pushed every button he could think of. Words of Faith, challenging God to prove Himself, making promises, and even downright pleading. We all have had, or will have our very own 'Gideon' moment. At that point, we will either listen, learn, and increase in God, or we will.... Sink lower into ourselves. Smith Wigglesworth, John G. Lake, Kenneth Hagan, and others all came from deathbed experiences to walk in power with God. Each of them had a 'Gideon' moment where they listened, learned and laid hold on something greater than themselves. Let us move past the need, to have that experience, to have a powerful relationship with God. The path? It is not easy, nor is it crowded, yet it is a trek with the greatest company who ever graced this planet with your guide being God, Himself. This is book two, in this series.
