It is said that life is a hand that is given to you and that you have to play at your best. This is probably true, but what happens if you are too young and innocent to understand your hand to play it right? This is a true story of a young boy, son of divorced parents, who has never seen his parents living together. He is raised by his mother during his early years. Soon after, he is constrained to join his father. While his parents are busy rebuilding their lives, he ends up being raised as an orphan. After spending years in boarding schools, he is forced to live with his father and stepmother. He endures neglect, abuse, and violence that leave him scarred. His mother's friend becomes his mentor. Not for long, as he is sent back to boarding school. Through faith and determination, he struggles to excel as a student. He manages to turn his life around, as he earns an education and becomes a senior scientific professional. He leads a responsible life, but scars remain. He reflects on his early life, and understands that he has survived the edge of innocence. Frustrations, bitterness? There is none of that. There are only life lessons that he wants to share with those who know or have experienced the effects of broken homes, and other individuals who have experienced neglect or abuse to give them a path forward to find hope, faith, courage, and success.
