Christopher Devin, in the mainstream novel Don't Cross the Devil, is characteristically a moody man in his late forties, and a well-to-do artist of local repute in his hometown of Orlando, Florida. As an artist, he captures popular and realistic scenes relating to art and life in oils. He is also an anonymous benefactor to the needy and enjoys the reputation among the ladies of an accomplished lover; he holds, however, a less widely known and more dubious status-Chris is the son of Satan.
