Soren Bergman, mathematics professor at the University of Bergen in Norway, and having tragically lost his wife, tries to find a new life in a relationship with a fellow professor. Little does he know that this will force him to make personal sacrifices, partly resulting from his acquaintance with Jamal Rasin, the security chief of al-Qaida. Bergman stumbles upon a terror plot that threatens the entire population of the United States, and he suddenly finds himself working with several intelligence services in his desperate attempt to prevent a major catastrophy.
