Middle School English and drama teacher, Danielle Wallace drowns with excitement and fear as her middle school drama students rehearse their hearts out for the Crest Middle second annual Winter Fest. Danielle started the festival her first year at the school and this year, the featured play was one of her very own. Concern over stage directions consume her every thought. All she wants is for the words to leap off the page and come to life with every movement and action of her students. The Wednesday evening rehearsal reveals new stage directions for the students, but with success under their belt, Danielle is convinced that they are ready for the performance. As the students leave with their parents, Danielle's eyes focus on the thirteen year old with her gloomy face as she waits for her mother who promised her a timely appearance. Once again, Melissa Archibald is stuck in wait for the nanny. With the, last minute telephone call from Melissa's parents, Nessa Truman rushes to collect Melissa from the late practice. Eager to get home, Danielle and Melissa make their way back to the auditorium in anticipation of Nessa's arrival, but another surprised performance awaits them.
