Henry Thurman is the eldest son and heir to a prosperous family farm. He is a simple man with simple needs: a small house, some work to do, the community in which he has been raised. When his father falls ill and his mother sends him on the impossible errand of bringing his runaway younger brother home, he finds himself out in a world of change. He starts his journey thinking he will not have to change with it, but it soon becomes clear that he is mistaken. His journey takes him across land and sea to a near-mythical place: Berlin, Germany. From swank hotels to secret clubs, Henry finds more than his brother.
